Training course - manual arc welding

This course teaches the basics of manual arc welding and is aimed at beginners with no prior knowledge.

The aim is to systematically introduce participants to the technology of manual metal arc welding - from theory and digital learning content to practical application in the workshop.

The course offers a balanced mix of face-to-face teaching, LMS-supported learning, virtual welding and practice-orientated exercises.

Course objectives

After completing the course, participants should:

  • know the difference between different electrodes and their labelling,
  • be able to safely operate and maintain the welding equipment,
  • produce and evaluate simple welded joints professionally,
  • recognise and avoid typical mistakes,
  • comply with the applicable health and safety regulations.

Learning approach

The course has a modular structure and combines four forms of learning:

  • Frontal teachingTeaching of basic knowledge by experienced specialist instructors, e.g. on types of current, electrodes, welding positions and fault patterns.
  • LMS-supported learningInteractive learning modules, quizzes and digital worksheets to reinforce the material - flexible and independent of location.
  • Practical lessonsSpecific exercises in the workshop to apply what you have learnt, including individual support and feedback to improve your welding technique.
  • Soldamatic: Learning using a virtual welding workshop. Offers exercises that can be worked on in a resource-saving and safe way.
